ICT
At Pigeon Mountain Primary School we strive for continuous
improvement. This is reflected in the use and purchase of technology to
enhance and support quality teaching, learning and reporting.
The school is divided into areas and each area has a pod of computers to share. All computers and laptops (
except for the odd very old computer you may still see in use) are
leased. This means we have the latest and greatest computers for our
students to use.
Mimios
All classrooms have an interactive whiteboard (Mimio). This year we purchased 6 Mimioviews to work alongside the Mimio
interactive board. Students' work can be instantly shared by placing it
under the camera and the work is instantly projected onto the
whiteboard. Teachers have found the Mimioview to be an invaluable tool in the classroom and are using it in a variety of ways.
iPadsAnother exciting ICT happening this year
was the purchase of 6 iPads. The school P.T.A. kindly gave us money to
purchase mobile devices and after much research, the school purchased
the iPads. The iPads are currently being used in pairs in the
classrooms so we can get them out to more classrooms.
Next Year
Next Year is an exciting Years for us - we are going wireless!
We are also leasing 25 student laptop so wireless will enable us to use
these around the school without having to worry about cables.
