Athletics

Our school Athletics Day was held on Tuesday 9th November.  This year we again combined the Junior School and Senior School events into a school wide athletics day.  400metre, 800 metre races, sprints and field events were held on the PMPS field and tabloids on BBI field.  After lunch, Year 3 - 6 classes competed against each other in shuttle relays on our own track and the final events were House Relays which were lots of fun and very noisy! An athletics team was then selected to represent Pigeon Mountain at the Interschool Athletics Day.

The Girls' House relay was won by Kiwi & the Boys' house relay was won by Tui

Pigeon Mountain sent a team of 60 children to the Howick & Pakuranga Athletic Sports on Tuesday 22 November at Lloyd Elsmore Park.  Our top results were:

Joeli Lavemai- 2^nd 8 yrs 60m  & 2^nd  8 yrs 100m sprints       Lana Taylor- 3^rd 9 yrs 400m

Oliver Hughson - 2^nd 9yrs 800m & 2^nd 9yrs 100m sprints    Amy Edwards Maas- 2^nd 8yrs 100m

Jasmin Rogado- 1^st 8 yrs 60m & 3^rd 8 yrs 100 m sprints      Ronnie Green - 2^nd 10 yrs long jump

Danny McKenzie- 3^rd 11 yrs softball throw                             Lauren Adamson - 3^rd 11 yrs 100m

Timothy Luey - 2^nd 10 yrs 100m & 2^nd 10 yrs 60m

Our 10yrs and over Girls relay team (Eva Min, Hanna Song, Lauren Adamson and Angelica Diaz) ran extremely well against strong competition to place 2^nd.

Mrs Hughson and Mr Jacobs were impressed with the general behaviour, sportsmanship and the positive competitiveness of our team.  Thank you to Mrs Perkins for her tireless effort at running the high jump on the day.
