Pigeon Mountain School – COVID-19 UPDATE

Dear Parent

We have just heard from the Prime Minister that the Alert Level for NZ has been lifted to the level where schools are affected- Level 3. In 48 hours we will move to Level 4.

As a result, from the end of today (Mon 23rd March), we will be closed for instruction until otherwise directed to by the government, to all students, other than those who have been identified by the government as children of essential workers. These students will be able to attend school on Tues 24th March.

Please collect your child at 3pm from classrooms as normal today.

We have been preparing for this eventuality for some time and have been working on developing a sound online platform to maintain continuity of learning, of connection and of routines.

Your teachers will be sending an email within the next 48 hours outlining the procedures we have put in place. If you have not received an email during this time, please contact the teacher directly or myself on iand@pmps.school.nz We will be exploring provision of learning for those students who do not have access to the internet or devices. We are looking into our ICT resources and will be endeavouring to provide hardware to anyone who does not have a device at home.

Please continue to follow safe hygiene procedures at home, and please support your child with their learning. We appreciate this may be a challenge, but we will continue to support our learners and community.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher, team leader, Mrs Lowden or myself.

如果您有任何问题,请联系您孩子的班主任,团队组长,Mrs Lowden 或者我本人。

The situation is ever-changing, and we will work hard to maintain the link with you all through our normal channels of school website, email and social media.

Please take care of yourselves during this enforced absence.

Kia kaha.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Dickinson
