Team Kahikatea – Term 2

Team News

Our school values are at the heart of everything we do.  We love to celebrate the values shown in school every Monday at our school assembly with our values certificates.

We would love to extend this to celebrating ways the values are shown at home.  If your child has shown one of our school values at home we would love to hear about it.  Send us an email, a photo, drop in and see us, or just encourage your child to share an example with the teacher at the start of the day.  It would be wonderful to strengthen this connection between home and school.

Remember if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child’s learning and time at school please contact their teacher at any time.

Our Learning

Welcome to our new children to our new students that have joined us this term.  We hope you have all settled in nicely and we welcome you to our Pigeon Mountain family.

This term we have been learning about cultural art.  We have been learning about how different cultures use different art forms to express their history, beliefs or customs.

As part of our learning we enjoyed a trip to Te Tuhi Art Centre in Pakuranga to learn about Tapa cloths and make one of our own.  A huge thank you to all the parents who attended.  These trips are not possible without you, so again, a big thank you to you all.  To those parents who offered to help but we were unable to take you due to numbers – we also want to say thank you, it is great to know we can rely on our parents for support and we hope you will be able to help on future trips.

Next term we will be studying how changes in the earth and atmosphere affect our everyday lives.  We will be exploring ideas such as:

The interconnection between Earth and the Solar System

Why the Earth has changed and continues to change

How humans respond to Earth’s changes

If you have any knowledge, resources or expertise you think we may find useful in this area, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your child’s teacher.

Have a safe and happy  holiday everyone

Team Kahikatea.

All year 4, 5 and 6 students need to bring their P.E gear (both the shirt and shorts) every day.

Children can wear sports shoes as part of their P.E gear but not with their regular school uniform.

We have Jump Jam every Friday

Children can now check school notices from home at any time by logging onto their Ludi basic facts account and clicking on the notices icon.  This allows them more responsibility for being able to make sure they do not miss any notices.  Parents can also check at any time.

Library days are as follows.  Please remember to return your books on time.

Rm 24 – Friday

Rm 23 – Thursday

Rm 20 – Wednesday

Rm 21 – Friday
