Manuka Team Newsletter – Term 2

Manuka Team Newsletter – Term 2

From the Team Leader

Team Manuka has continued to have another great term of learning and collaborating! We have been lucky enough to learn more about different languages and cultures through celebrating New Zealand Sign Language Week and Samoan Language Week. A huge thank you to Sine Saumani for giving up her time and sharing her expertise with the team.

Our Learning

Team Manuka’s big idea for inquiry this term has been: “Living things adapt to their changes in habitat in order to survive.” Our team has really enjoyed learning about different kararehe (animals) and looking closely at all the different nohanga (habitats) and urutaunga (adaptations) during our team’s zoo trip. A big thank you to all the parents who came along and helped keep our team safe. Another huge thank you to all the parents that offered their time. We hope you can join us on another trip!

Showing the values at home

A huge thank you to the parents who have shared how their child has shown some of our four school values (respect, responsibility, resilience and excellence) at home. Ka pai to these Team Manuka students for showing responsibility and helping out at home!

How you can help

We always welcome parents to help in the classroom.  If this sounds like something you would like to do, then please feel free to approach your child’s teacher to discuss some ways that you can help. Please let us know if you have any special knowledge or resources that are relevant to our inquiry topic and would like to share them with us. Our next two big ideas for Term 3 are: “Dance is a fundamental form of expression” and “Learning about previous generations helps us to understand the relationship between the past and present.” Thank you to the parents who have come in this term and have shared their special skills with our team!
