Education Outside the Classroom

At Pigeon Mountain Primary School, we believe that learning doesn’t just happen inside the classroom. Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) provides students with real-world experiences that support and enrich their learning.

Our students take part in a variety of EOTC activities throughout the year, including local trips, camps, and sporting events. These experiences are fun, engaging, and help students build confidence, teamwork, and independence.

Local Learning Trips

Throughout the year, students may visit places that support their classroom learning, such as:

  • Auckland Zoo

  • Auckland War Memorial Museum

  • Howick Historical Village

  • SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium

Year 5 Camp

Willow Park, Eastern Beach

1 night, 2 days

Year 5 students enjoy a two-day, one-night camp experience close to home at Willow Park. This camp focuses on fun, friendship, and building independence. Activities may include:

  • Beach games and team sports

  • Camp challenges and team-building activities

  • Mini golf and confidence course

  • Shared meals and a sleepover experience

  • Evening talent show and games

Year 6 Camp

Lakewood Lodge, Rangiriri

3 nights, 4 days

Our Year 6 students attend a three-day camp at Lakewood Lodge, where they take part in a range of outdoor challenges and team-building experiences, including:

  • Horse riding and animal care

  • Kayaking, flying fox and water confidence activities

  • High ropes and climbing wall challenges

  • Evening campfire and team activities

  • Survival night (overnight stay in a tent)
